Day 147 - Guard dog
World's most passive guard dog
He sits outside this retirement village all day long. The sign opposite the gate warns "Beware guard dog", but I've yet to see him even stand up, let alone "guard" anything!

Day 146 - Grass-covered car
Grass-covered car
This car covered with fake grass was a conversation starter for teza teas outside Craft 2.0 at The New Dowse today. With samples of their products in the window, I thought this was an incredibly creative form of advertising, given that their website appears to currently be down.

Day 145 - Coloured seats
Coloured seats
Petone Police Station
These coloured seats are simple and nothing special, yet they always catch my eye as I walk past the Petone Police Station. Did someone set out to buy four different tins of paint when they were first constructed, or did their colourful decoration come about by someone collecting up and using left-over paint? There is another pair of seats nearby with four more different colours, which also remain a colourful mystery.

Day 144 - Interislander
Interislander ferry float
Grounded!
I was surprised to see this parade float of the Interislander ferry on terra firma recently. It was created by Westside Studios in Shelly Bay and is one of the many floats, props, and large-scale decorations casually lurking in the area.

Day 140 - Bedding
Bedding
I love the bold colour scheme of De Vine, the brand new holiday house we stayed in at Martinborough this weekend.

Day 130 - Cool keys
Cool keys
I've seen coloured keys before, but these designs are almost too cute to be real! I love Tweety's comment that, "it's not easy being cute", and the hopeful skunk proclaiming, "Love she is blind, no?". Keys like this would be a great reminder to smile every day.

Day 129 - Minnie Mouse
Minnie Mouse
This painting of Minnie Mouse is the companion to my brother's picture of Mickey Mouse, painted for us in 1978 when we were young children.

Day 128 - Mickey Mouse
Mickey Mouse
This picture of Mickey Mouse was painted by a truck driver who used to make deliveries to my father's joinery business when my brother and I were little. One day in 1978, he took two pieces of board out of his truck and told my father to give them to us; he'd painted Mickey Mouse for my brother and Minnie Mouse for me, and they spent many years adorning our bedroom walls. Yesterday, my 19-month-old nephew (who is learning to talk) was watching TV and called out "Mickey" when he saw Mickey Mouse on the screen. I remembered that Mickey and Minnie were packed away and quickly found them in my parents' storage cupboards. Upon seeing this picture, my nephew pointed and called out "Mickey!" again; he went home in possession of his father's painting, ready to hang on his own bedroom wall.

Day 127 - Pigeon thief
Pigeon thief
Caught in the act!
As I was working in the lounge, I spotted a pigeon running across the floor with my silver bangle in her mouth! I quickly chased her with the camera on my phone (so excuse the quality of the pictures) to find out where she planned on putting it. Santina occasionally collects up goodies from around the house when she decides it's time to nest. Her 'nest' is in the corner of the bathroom, where she can hang out with her 'pigeon friends' in the mirror. The bangle is now back in my room with the rest of my jewellery, and Santina's mission has become, once again, fruitless.

Day 126 - Orange sunflower
Orange sunflower
I love sunflowers. This one caught my eye today as I've never seen an orange sunflower before. I stepped in to take a closer look then whipped out my camera; this would make a great photo for today. The florist disagreed. "Can I help you?" she asked as I was lining up my camera. I explained that I hadn't seen an orange sunflower before and liked the look of it. "Ohhh," was her reply. She stood over me, clearly not impressed at me taking a photo and not buying a $25 sunflower. I took the shot then hastily moved on. One less future customer for this florist!

Day 123 - Clock
Clock
This is the second clock I have seen which uses the original Roman numeral IIII for the number 4, as opposed to IV (the more 'modern' symbol, meaning one before five).
